Kathleen joined the group in November, 2017 as a full-time PhD student on the LIBERATE project (Living Better with Advanced Breast Cancer), funded by Breast Cancer Now. Working under the supervision of Professor Galina Velikova, Dr Fiona Kennedy, Dr Kate Absolom and Dr Clare Harley, her research will focus on quality of life issues in metastatic breast cancer and ultimately seek to develop an online symptom reporting and self-management tool tailored to the needs of these patients.

Kathleen studied Medicine at the University of Leeds before opting to take a more research-focused route, studying for a Master’s in Public Health at the University of York. She is particularly interested in women’s & children’s health and qualitative research methods. Her dissertation explored measures of maternal-infant bonding in the context of community programmes supporting childhood social and emotional well-being.
